correct 904 kickdown set up?

so is this the corrrect set up for the lokar kickdown linkage for a 904 trans? does it go backward toward the tail shaft or does the mounting bracket go forward toward the front bumper? if it does go backward like shown in this picture how did everyone route it to the carb?

I have one on a 727 and it goes back first...then comes on top of the trans to the carb..
