could this be a scam

-
The transport company appears straight up, can't vouch for the woman though.

Correction! This company does not appear to be legit!

It's a scam. I came across an ad using the same transport company and decided to play along. The story is all the same. She/he/they were selling a Demon at the time (the cars change) and i knew that it belonged to an acquaintance on Moparts. I emailed him to let them know what was going on. What they do is hijack the images, use the sob story and rob you blind. Don't fall for this.

BTW: Did you contact them and what email address/name did they use? I may still have the email replies from them.

OK...after reading the posts on the Crossfire forum.............

The domain registry should be pretty easily found and the owner tracked.

My general rule of thumb says, "If I can't drive it, drag it, or make my own arrangements for proxy inspection and shipping, I won't touch it with a 10 foot pole". Then I track down another one. The hunt is half the fun anyway.

Also, those replies that the person on Crossfireforum.org received were the exact ones I received. It's a cut and paste scam.

That's a drag....cause I've got an A990 car for sale for $4800 and shipping is already arranged......

Thanks for the input guys I would hate to lay out money and get stung
I'm trying to contact the shipping company to get more info. I'll let you know how it turns out

Bill,

It seems odd that the website billing address for a 12 year old shipping company would be an apartment in Van Nuys. Beware.

Even the start up companies I worked for would get billed directly for tax purposes. This is in someones name, not a company name. The contact number is a cell phone too.

Their toll-free number is owned by a company called Time-Shift in Hollywood, CA http://www.timeshift.net/timeshift.html.

There is no toll free listing for this shipper nationwide. No legit company would pay for a toll free number and not have paid for a directory listing, that's insane.

From the opposite direction;

I listed a set of tires and wheels on Craigslist.

Got an email asking if the "item" was still available.

I Responded; yes the tires and wheels are still available and was there anything else you wanted to know about them.

Got a response stating that they would pay the full asking price for the "item" and that they had contracted with a mover to pick the "item" up. I was to call the mover once I had received the check.

I was suspicious because they keep referring to the wheels as the "item" so I responded that why don't you have the mover bring cash and if the wheels and tires are acceptable they could pay me cash. Never heard from them again.

Contact the woman, and tell her you have a cop buddy in her area, and you would like to have him inspect the car. See if she backs down, or gives you the run around. If she does, you may want to contact the state attorney general with the details. If it crosses state lines, I believe it becomes a federal issue. I think at that time it becomes an FBI fraud issue. I'm no expert, just my .02. Tim

everytime I list something on craigslist,,,I get the same scam e-mails,,,,I always send back some stupid reply,,,,what losers

Nope. Contact the fbi fraud department and play along with the scam.

Nail the *****!
