I'm no fan of country (but I do like western), and the wife and I enjoyed the series. I missed the one with Kris Kristofferson but I know they'll re-run it.
If you're into Mopars and haven't seen them, the theatrical-release of Payback, as well as the Blade movie series feature some Mopars and also Kris Kristofferson, and are actually also decent movies. He's a damn good actor.

I have always liked, and have a whole new respect for, how grounded most country music performers are, but didn't realize how many songwriters they used!

Just got done talking with my boss about the series and he said one of the ealier episodes had a long feature on Hee Haw and Roy.

Guess they are not on a 100% chronological timeline.

I've only seen 6, 7, and 8.

You can buy the whole series without all the bells whistles and books for like 75 bucks. Well worth it.
