Couple more 8 3/4 questions

I just want to make sure of everything before I mess anything else up.

Due to my inexperience I messed up my 489 case gear set. If I am going to have to pull it apart anyway I might as well swap to gear I want instead of the 3.23 open that's in it.

Will my other 741 case work in my current housing and with my current axles?

If so what all do I need to do the swap, the main gasket, what type of gear oil, ect.

The 741 will bolt to the axle housing, as will the 742, they only made different center cases as per spl and diameters otherwise its the same.

85W90 gear oil. If it's a sure grip you need to add a limited slip additive. O'reilley's has it
