Guys I took out my front buckets (finally got the covers and foam from Legendary!) and had a nasty surprise under the driver's seat. As you can see the floor/tunnel rear "reinforcing strap" (I dunno what its called, but you get the picture) has a fracture all around it going up onto and to the side of the transmission hump.

:wack:

I knew I was going to have to replace the front pans, but now I'm wondering how to approach this. Can I put a new front reinforcing straps over the compromised rear one? Are these even available? Anyone know what they're called? Any guidance from you body guys is MUCH appreciated!

When I bought my 66 the floor was in just about the exact shape that your's is. The original owner(and his wife) weighed about 400 lbs (each) and the seats were 'scrunched' and the floor boards cracked the same on both sides! :? I cut out the affected metal, formed new pieces and welded them back in place. I then removed the seat reinforcement bracket from the old floor piece and welded it onto the new area and re-drilled the hole. It's been there for about 20+ years now, and still no signs of cracking again. And I weigh 220. :)
