Just want to verify this.....is it the same for small & big blocks? According to the SS HEMI Authenticity Guide it is 1.20", to the right side. So is that the magic number?

I was always under the impression that the position of the centerline of the engine was determined by the offset of the pinion gear in the rearend. I have been known to be wrong in the past though.

There was a post on this question years ago. And a poll indicated that near 90 percent were measured at 1 3/8" to the pass side.

I believe it's offset because of the space needed for the steering column and box, and the rear axle is offset to match it. I'd say that "should be" the same for all RHD engine combinations.

This is what I am under the impression of. The pdf I posted states

"Also note that the engine is mounted in the standard location which is 1.20 inches to the right of center of the car."

Safe to assume that this means all A-body v-8's???
