Hi Guys,

I don't post often but I do lurk and stalk threads all the time.

I am looking for advice from those of you that have installed a crate motor and what headers you decided to use.

I have a 73 Dart Sport 318 auto- black with white stripe, sunroof, and fold down back seat. It's actually my wife's but it has only been on the road 5 times in the last 5 years so it really doesn't matter who claims it.

To make it reliable for my wife I decided to open the checkbook and purchase a crate motor. I am looking for advice.

Thanks,

Looks like a lot of $$$ for under 400 hp. You can get a 5.9 magnum out of Durango, Dakota or ram for $500, add EQ heads, .520" cam, timing set and intake for another $1600-$1700 oops, forgot Kevco car pan $240 so say $2000 with Gaskets. Total $2500 and easy 400 HP. Spend another $1000 installing factory injection and that leaves you another $1000 for a 44RE. Then you would have 400 HP with 4 speed Auto. Ultimate street machine. Or just install the engine and keep $2000 for a road trip across country:D

I put a Blueprint 383 stroker in my Stingray a couple years ago. ...
Freakin thing ran great and strong!

I had good luck with them.....

I have never considered a modern swap. Will the 5.9 align with the motor mounts? How about the four speed transmission?

Something to think about...

I'm in the process of pulling a 5.9 out of a Durango for my 72 valiant /6, a bit more elbow grease but I expect to turn about 3-4 hundred profit. Works for me as I'm in no rush. I'm going to have to buy the mounts, because mine was the /6 but the 318 should be the same?

Edit: that 3-4 is before I do heads, header, cam, intake, carb, oil pan and a trans lol

My friend in California has his 410 stroker for sale 5500 and shipping should be Around 300-400. He is willing negotiate too! I also have a set of TTi headers for sale for 550 in california
