I am going to be a bit of a devil's advocate here. I do wonder if it is credit score only, or a credit report?
It costs businesses a lot of money to have employees these days, in salary, health insurances, unemployment insurance, etc. Employers use tools to determine the best hire...interviews, drug tests, references, certifications, certificates, degrees, resume', etc
Credit score is merely one more tool by which to judge potential applicants.
Credit score can indicate personal organization, management of priorities, organization skills, money management, etc. The employer is judging if the applicant can manage the tasks of the job.
If it is full score, they can look at outstanding lines of credit, where and how that credit is used, and pay back history, and debt to available credit. (Does the applicant have normal usages, or do they have credit accounts all over the place, for every little thing / accounts maxxed out {could indicate inplusiveness])
If an employer has 2 lead applicants for a position, both qualified, both interviewed well, I would presume the employer is going to look for SOMETHING to break the tie. IF one has good or great personal credit, and the other does not, then that could influence the decision. If the person with not so good credit can explain (divorce, fraud, etc) then that would probably level the playing field, but do you think that person is likely going to get the chance to explain? Probably not.
Do I think it should be the sole decision criteria, NO.
But in the above case, ON PAPER, the good score candidate would appear to be the better hire, and besides physical interviews, job applicants get to the interview based ON PAPER, via resume'.
This comes from someone with terrible credit early in life, (college credit card, slow pay, etc). It took wife teaching me some personal organization skills to get me back on track.
Hi Backtobasics, first Please don't take this personal. I agree with alot of what you have to say. So much so it moved me to write again.
So nothing following towards you, I just thought it was time for me to write again, and I always love following devels advocate because I wouldn't advocate for him! LOL!!! So I must say:
Down with corporate college weiners who have way too much self esteem in themselves, and are working in HR looking down their noses at the poor flock!! Boot lickers!!:thebirdm:
Sorry had to pipe in again.
IT'S 2010!!!
I lost everything not from money/credit management of my own irresponsibility.
It was due to someone else irresponsibly luring me out of a well paying steady job, with promice of 25% company ownership in 5 years. Through CORPORATE MISMANAGEMENT OF FUNDS!!! I lost my job beoing the higest payed employee besides the owner.
"Sorry John, you just make too much money"!
Jezz Robert (name change here), I wish you relized that when you hired me 10 months ago. I was making 60K+ a year and came here for 45K for future ownership!!!
I am just now being able to sit down without the deep aching pain in my cavinousrectumus!!!
I'm just playing Angels advocate! DOWN WITH CORPORATE GREED!

Hi. Sooooo.... Your a vet hugh?
Ahhh yep!
How would you feel about going to Afganistan?
Whats it pay? For how long?
Pay depends, you would be there for 10 months. The money you make is tax free.
Pay depends on what?
Wellll.......It depends on the areas you work in.
Meaning my avionics experiance working on planes vs a cook, or depends on the area having to be armed or not.
Yes it depends on weather you want to work in an area where you would need to at least carry a side arm, or in an "unarmed" safe area. Could be and is different areas even though you working on avionics and such.
OK, You know my age right?
Yes not a problem.
I'll get back with ya thanks!!!
I almost feel better now! Once again sorry, I just can't help myself. Way too much gettin kicked around by the ivy league!!!:angry7:
