I'm in the process of giving my '69 Dart a makeover, and I had this idea for a custom bumblebee stripe. I was inspired by the show OverHaulin' when they restored this guys Coronet and Foose made a custom stripe for him. My stripe is not as fancy as Foose's but I like it and I don't think it will be that hard to do.

I'm going to buy a '69 Super Bee stripe kit and remove the "SUPER BEE" and replace it with the words "SWINGER 340". I should be able to either buy some matching vinyl sticker material create the wording the size I want it or have a sign shop make them for me. I think the rear marker lights for all 69s are the same A or B body so this shouldn't be a problem. I made a sketch of what it should look like. What do you think?

I have always liked the bee logo and I think that all the cars the were "Scat Pack" cars that had the bumble bee stripes on them should have had the bee logo on them.

I would check with stripe and stencil and see what they tell you on making the custom stripe.

I painted the stripe on my 67 Dart. I used a 69 GTS stripe. It would be very easy to paint it on and have the custom graphics made and cut the correct 69 stripe if Stripe & Stencil cannot or will not modify it for you.

The 69 Dart stripe and the 69 Superbee stripe might not work out as well as you think. The dart stripe is not straight across the trunk. I never noticed this until the painter went to paint mine on and noticed the stripe had a slight V to it. Look across your trunk and you will see a slight body line center of the deck lid from the front to rear. The V lines up on this body line.

I like your idea. With the graphics being done by so many now it should be easy to have it made and not cost an arm and leg.

Rich, here's a guy I've used in the past for similiar items. He's good. Can make just about anything. He also uses the best materials, no junk. He's a Mopar guy also. Here's his E-mail - glenzoni@totacc.com. He has a web site, but don't have it here right now. I'll try to locate it for you. By the way, I like the design.

That is gonna look awesome!! If you can swing it, have yer vinyl guy cut a positive image for a stencil. Paint it. I don't regret painting mine, and just touching it gives you a you-know-what.

SpikeKid999- I looked on TLC's web site and couldn't find any pictures of the stripe, car, anything. I did find out that they restored the car in season 4 episode 5 and that was it. A little disappointed they didn't have pictures, they only had a description of what the show was about.

Gary- I like what you have done there with that stripe. IT is going to be later in the week before I get to making mine so cross your fingers.

George- I saw that stripe on the post about your truck, and I think I commented and said I liked it, I still like it.

I'll post some pictures when I get it started.

I've been thinking of something similar as well for a dart. Black fiberglass six pack hood, plain black steelies and chrome lug nuts, and a custom stripe with "Mini Bee".

1967DartGT - If you are interested, I make this stripe with "Mini Bee" instead of Swinger for $65.00

challengergary - I still need to do ALOT of work on my dart before I can think about putting a stripe on it but when it's painted I'll look you up. One question abou your "Mini Bee" stripe ... what year body style does it fit? 67-69 or 70 & up? My dart is a 67. Any photos?

1967DartGT - The stripe was designed from a factory '69 style bumble bee stripe. It will fit 67, 68 & 69. No photos yet. This was just a mock up I did in case BigRichieO wanted it.

challengergary - Cool. I'll get back to you when I finish body work and paint.

Been creeping around these parts for a bit studying up as I'm starting my 69 Dart restoration. Got a lot of good information and now I'm very intrigued by this stripe discussion. I've seen quite a few custom stripes but was unsure where to get them made up up at.

challengergary, are you able to make up a stencil like 5.7Dart mentioned? I am planning to paint my Dart, Viper GTS Blue with a Viper Silver stripe and would really like to add the bee with Hemi Swinger.

Thanks a bunch. Will, the new guy

Will,

No problem making a custom stencil. The material costs a few more bucks so it'll be $75.00 for a stencil/mask kit. Do you wan tme to make a mock up with Hemi instead of 340?

SOLD!!! PM me your paypal info and I'll get the payment for the stencil coming along with my address. Thanks a bunch Gary, way stoked about that!
