Daily Driver insurance on old car.

-
What do you consider weird in Mass? Up until the past year the state set insurance rates and a lot of insurance companies chose not to do business in Mass. That changed last year and all the internet insurance companies are now doing business in Mass, it hasn't seemed to have helped or hurt.

In Mass you are assigned risk based on years of driving experience and driving record. I have never heard anyone having an issue with compulsory insurance because of the age of the car. The insurance companies unless you go to a Haggerty or the like won't give you agreed value on the collision or comprehensive but if you go to them you can't use it as a daily driver either.

OK I didn't know they had changed the rules in Mass.

yes..but the appraisal i gave to insurance was for half what the car is worth or i couldn't afford the monthly payments..

you can leave the car wherever you want though unattended right?

Mshred,I could,nt attach pic in pm,so here,s a pic of the gears(3.91)

i guess what i call daily driver and most of you guys call daily driver is different...to me a daily driver is something you can drive anyday and leave it unattended wherever you go....Im looking for guys who drive their mopars like that, and want to know what insurance policy they have

the last 2 summers,i drove my car every day to and from work (about 70 kilometers each way).and out and about on weekends.i could leave it unattended anywhere i just never do.
right now i only have fire and theft on it.because it's in storage for winter.in the summer i might get a quarter of what it's worth if i had an accident.(knock on wood) if i got anything at all.it's dangerous,i know.but i bought it to drive..
when i first got insurance on it,my broker called a bunch of places and Gore Mutual was the only one that would insure as a daily driver.every one else had mileage limits.
hope that helps some..

hey thanks for the tip...so you could drive it anywhere if you wanted thats cool then...i think i will give them a call....now could you still have given them full appraised value and gotten the higher premiums and still be able to leave it unattended and stuff? from what i understand you said you didnt because its too expensive that way, but you cuold have if you wanted to right? by the way if you dont mind me askin what car do you drive?

as far as i know,if i gave them the full appraisal it would be the same rules.just higher monthly payments.i think they insured it as just a car rather than as a classic.
my car is a 68 notch back barracuda,360/727 but is still registered as a 225 /6.:-\"
