Hello. New to this site. I have a 72 swinger with a tired 318. I have obtained a 79 magnum with relatively low mileage 360 (complete car). I’m looking to swap running gear. I would appreciate any input from you all. Thanks.
Cool, welcome to the site. Magnum as you’re using it refers to a model of vehicle. Magnum as this thread is using it refers to a series of small block mopar engine. You’re all good though, your 79 magnum (car) will have an LA 360 most likely and most of the stuff from that will drop right in to your dart. The oil pan will need to changed. The exhaust will have to be dealt with, and the balance of the 360 is different from the 318 so either you need to use the transmission from the magnum (car) with the 360 or use your transmission with some aftermarket balance stuff. It’s all doable and been done before and is a relatively easy swap. If you have specific questions, shoot. And post up some pictures of what you’re working with and guys can get an idea of what you have.
The magnum car, not so much.
He lives! You can have all the magnums. Even my share. As far as I’m concerned they’re a great place to find small blocks. That’s all.you shut your filthy mouth, philistine

California keeps me from really liking anything newer than 75.
Yep, at the time it was just a big car with the motor I needed.
Now I think they are kind of cool looking and I don't see them often. Plus they have a big engine bay that swallows a 6.2 well and they have some NASCAR history. Not saying I would go looking for one, but if I found one and it needed a motor I would have to think about it for awhile.

the reports of my demise were only mostly true...He lives! You can have all the magnums. Even my share. As far as I’m concerned they’re a great place to find small blocks. That’s all.
