Dash Restoration

Over the winter I will be restoring my dash since it is small enough to be done in the heated basement while the rest of the car is frozen in the garage. Everything has been taken apart and I was hoping to get help on a few questions.

1. What have you used to re-paint over the peeling chrome plastic pieces? I have access to an airbrush if there is a good quality paint out there. I was thinking maybe something from a hobby shop that would be used for model cars?

2. There are several small rust holes and a lot of pitting in one of the inside lower sections of the dash. I don't know if I would be able to patch them by welding in new metal or not. Does any one have any suggestions?

Wow. That turned out great! What black paint did you use? I am also converting all of my interior over to black.
