Starting to throw 71 Duster resto back together. At the point with the dash. You know where this is going. Cap or dash pad. Any thoughts on best looking/matching cap. Or some places to get a pad thelay won't cost you an arm and a leg? I'll post pictures as well to show all what I've got. I'm stuck at this point till I get the dash back in the car. All feedback and opinions are greatly appreciated.

If I were starting from scratch, I would check out "Just Dashes" and have one made with built in gauge pods.

Stay away from any company that makes re-pop's with a fiberglass core instead of a metal core.
They will warp in the sun!

I was looking at ABC Moparts. Seems like there are too many dash places out there.

With a little effort and patients, that can be repaired and refinished. I'm doing my dash pad now. View attachment 1715858985
It wouldn't look perfect, but Q-Bond would get that one back together enough to be usable.

I'll have to disagree. Once the vinyl is dried enough to crack like example shown here, it will crack again somewhere else. Products yall suggest is fine for cuts or burns in other places, but it will not save this sun-baked biscuit.
Have you ever sat in a vehicle and watched a crack grow across/over a dash pad? I haven't but my neighbor did. Called me crying about it. I helped him acquire and install a new pad in his Silverado pickup.
To the thread starter here... If the pad was still in the car, I might consider a cap for time being. I had one in our first 67 notch years ago. It didn't look bad once dyed to the right color. It was as hard as those unbreakable combs. One could drum on it all day. Your car is apart, pad out on a table. Get your credit card out.
There are posts here about aftermarket pads not fitting/looking just right at the instrument panel. I forget what model it was.

That pad is toast and cracked in a whole bunch of places and will only crack more once the car is back on the road. By the time you buy the repair stuff and put in all the time required to restore it back to a presentable condition, you could have just put up an escort ad on craigslist and gone on a few dates and paid for a new one.

Just started a new project and i can't believe the prices.....thinkin' this one will just be a driver!
You know the kind you can go to cruz night without checking the weather, and you can leave it outside without worry.

The kind you can use and enjoy is the best kind of all.

LOL....A driver will cost you a fortune as well. Ask me how I know! I wish I could turn the clock back....I never would have answered the ad:(. No turning back now.

I have one out of ‘72 Demon that I “restored”. Definitely not perfect or as original, but I think I did fair for a rookie dog. Should be fine for a driver. Could post pictures if you like.
