I have a 69 Formula S 4 spd Mod Top. There is only one other 4 spd Mod on the registry so there can't be many more than that out there. Unfortunately mine is not numbers matching. I have a May 69 date coded 340 now. The scheduled production date of my car was 9-10-68. There is a Jun 68 date coded 340 with assembly date of 9-5-68 and vin number BH29P9B134206 for sale locally for $3800. My VIN is BH23P9B138784. Question is, would having an engine so close to the original help the value of my car anymore than the May 69 block I currently have?

Probably not. If it's not the original engine date code correct is better than nothing but still not the original.
Your May 69 block is probably for a 1970 car. What’s the number on the side passenger side of the block above the pan rail? Kim
Actually, that May built engine still could be for the '69 model year but definitely check the vin on the oil pan rail.
You really want an engine newer than the car. Sad it is not numbers matching but who’s to say the dealer did not pop that in a few years later. Numbers matching is not all it’s cracked up to be. Be happy you have a factory mod top. Most people have not a clue.
No. They're either numbers matching or not.
All things being unequal, if it were a '70 engine then the water pump would discharge to the passenger side as '70 is when they changed over.

Are you planning on selling the car? If not, then why go to the hassle when it’s a same for same end result?
If you are planning on selling the car, how much of a premium would you think you’d get for a late 69 block cast (NNM) relative to an early 69 block cast that is also not number matching (NNM)? $250, $500, $1,500, $2,500?
Unless you really want a project to work on to keep you out of the casinos/bars, what other benefits are there?
Presumably when you bought the car you received/negotiated a discount based on it not being numbers matching? So in reality you shouldn‘t be ‘out’ any $$ when you sell the car (assuming you view these cars as an investment).

Also being it was an auto car u would have to change it back to auto. So a lot of work for no gain. Just for your oun piece of mind. Kim
