Definately had better weekends at the track

Interesting… and thanks Dwayne for insisting I find another compression tester to try.
I borrowed a very nice Matco one from another buddy..
Checked 3 holes just to be sure, (1,3,5) and all three were at 180 or right at it(177-178-181)
That is with engine unfired for days and not holding carb open, which as Dwayne told me would bump the numbers up only marginally, maybe 3 to 5)
Think I am OK.
Now going to check carb and install new wires this afternoon

Didn’t get anything else done this afternoon, wanted to get it outside so I can see better, but started raining and still is.
Plan tomorrow is plugs and wires then a drive.. then if it’s fixed, yee haw. Supposed to be much cooler tomorrow but clearing off.
If not, will go through carb to check that. Hopefully something from that list fixes it
I have long time plans to attend the Mopar event at Norwalk starting the 19th of this month.
Not gonna haul it over there unless it’s right. Really want to attend, I will be 70 Sunday, not getting any younger.

Well… replaced bad battery, adjusted floats and fuel pressure, drove it, no change, still breaking up.
Before I called it a day decided to pop dizzy cap off and replace he rotor.
The two screws holding it down were about ready to fall out. Rotor flipped around when I bumped it moving the cap out of the way… they got missed.
Will drive it tomorrow after lunch to verify, but I am 98% that was my current issue. Pulling it back in the garage I could tell it was much happier.
Moral of the story dumb mistakes cause dumb problems.

Better, but it still isn’t right. Still picking away. Did get oil leak fixed.
Planning on Moparts event at Norwalk next week, need to get hopping if I want to go..still up in the air at this point.
I hope to see you there! By the way, just food for thought, Rick Allison had been dealing with a surge in his dragster this whole season including the Mopar Race at 42. Tried multiple different things and it ended up being the fuel pump. Replaced fuel pump, and car came alive. I know Doug Wright dealt with this issue a year or so ago. It may not be your problem, but if you have an extra fuel pump, it may be worth swapping it out just to cross that off the list.

Haha, just put a new pump on it. New rotor, new battery, new plugs, and yesterday new wires.. gonna drive it again today after having done the wires.
Hoping it’s gone. Really need it completely without issue as my class is 1/4 mile over there. Will know for sure by this afternoon.
Have something going on this morning, when I get back home plan to take it out and see.

Awesome, I sure hope it is fixed so you can make it to Norwalk. As a friend of mine says "Are you having fun yet?" This sport is always something. No breaks, costs you everything you have, and takes up all the time you have.

Well, I am super happy to report…. She is fixed. Turned out to be a bad plug wire was the culprit. Don’t know which one, replaced the whole set.
Those were only about 5 years old…lol
That was my last thing to try.
Came up to a stop sign out in the country little while ago, and said, well, I will know in the next few seconds if Norwalk is in my plans.
Ran perfect, I was so astonished, I did it again just to make sure I wasn’t dreaming

Awesome happy to hear it. See you at Norwalk

Had two hits today, didn’t get in the gamblers race that’s going on now.
First pass I found out the 30 degrees timing that was in it was indeed 30.
It was a dog with only 1700 foot of air.
Come out for second time run with 35 degrees in iy( real close to optimal and it ran a respectable 10.46 in 2920 DA. I was think 10.40-41 in that air, so it’s pretty darn close. Very happy.
1 hit tomorrow and right in to the race, then no time hits Sunday, and right into the race.
Glad I get a hit tomorrow, my lights were bad, real bad. We will get it figured out, now I am starting to trust the car again. Fun racing 1/4 mile, been a while.
