Did anybody saw this important video of Joe Zolper

It really doesn't bother me, it's funny that few here seem to see it objectively. Carry on with it!

If anything, newer cars with the entire alphabet(ABS/TCS/SCS/SRS/BSD/DAS/CAS) just enourages & fools young drivers that they are way better drivers than they are

I always refer to it as running out of computer. Unfortunately it occurs way past the ability of the driver to recover.

The video has some valid points. Exaggerated to some degree.. I think the appeal to the current younger generations isn’t what it was when I was a teen. I’m in my mid 40s and when I was in high school, it seemed to be very much alive. Generations after me, technology became more and more the main source of entertainment/hobby. I won’t say that’s across the board because there are some younger people out there that love it just as much as the older crowds. It still feels odd to me that younger people look at fox bodies and irocs as a “classic car”. By their age, I guess they are now. People are restoring cars from their childhood which is where the fox body, iroc, Buick GN, Monte Carlo SS, etc etc. When I was 15, my first car was a 68 Dart. It was less than 30 years old at that point.

I don’t think the classic car market is dead but I think it’s definitely not what it used to be unfortunately. When I had my first one, parts were pretty scarce in the repop world. Now that I’m having a second crack at it with “adult money”… I’m glad to see so much is out there. Tryin to build the car 15 year old me wished I could have done at that age.

Times are different.. owners manuals used to have instructions on how to set the valves as a normal maintenance item.. now they tell ya to not drink the washer fluid lol.

I bought my car for me, at a time when no one particularly cared about Dusters. I am keeping it for me and it means something to me. What happens to it when I am gone I frankly don't care but that being said my wife knows the value and will sell it for what she can get. It will be found money and nothing more.

Also, the big classic car auctions has made a negative impact on the culture.. I really enjoy watching them since it’s like a car show you can watch from your living room but… get some liquored up millionaires in a room of a car auction, where price is no object.. turns a car worth 25k sell for 50k real quick.

The Dart Swinger that my 4spd came from was bought by a retired couple.. they bought it at Barrett Jackson for $70k+.. yeah, that happened.. you can watch it on YouTube since they post all of their past auctions on there. I’m not saying it’s worth it by any stretch but that’s what they paid for it.. then had to turn around and convert it to an automatic.. guess at that point, money is meaningless lol.

They should have watched Joe's video and waited for these muscle cars to tank in value. He said all the buyers will dry up no one will want them anymore. He said they will all nose dive, all of them across the board, tank in value fire sale pennies on the dollar. Ppl be giving away Hemi and Six Pack cars no one will want them anymore. All the buyers are gonna die and be gone market values tank per the video.

It’s about two years too late lol… it’s a super nice car.. it’s not $70k nice, if that’s even possible for a 70-72 Swinger that’s not a full custom job with a hellcat swap or something. This had a 408 and a 4spd. Lime green with white buckets.. again, nice car but… not 70k nice

The thing he fails to mention is that "used 2011 Challenger" a kid drops 30k on is gonna break. Just like the Audis and Beemers the kids are buying cheap. And when they go south, there is little chance they will be resurrected. The cost to fix is astronomical, the parts are expensive, the labour is way more and often requires major disassembly for basic repairs. Never mind the miles long fragile wire harnesses and multiple computers. All out of reach from someone "barely making rent".

Yeah not to mention mechanics that are REALLY GOOD at computer diagnosis are FEW and FAR between.

Well Rusty, let's just say that I am definitely not on the left coast!
Actually, going back to to what people were saying about Joe, and you were in that group, that he is an idiot. He isn't, and I know that you aren't either. I look at the video as just a point of view to Think about it. No one really needs to grind him into the dirt or try to tarnish his reputation. That seems to happen alot around here. It's just something to think about and then go on about your life. Stepping out, sorry that I stepped in.
Goodnight!

I think he's an idiot in his delivery. He comes across as angry at the world. That diminishes his message greatly.

Zolper seemed like a happy guy on that Garage Squad TV show.
We all know that "reality shows" are bullshit and that nothing is actually spontaneous or unscripted.
I've seen a few videos of Zolper including one he did right after the sweeping cancellations of many car related TV shows late last year.
He does not seem nearly as cool or friendly in his own video stuff, he seems somewhat bothered/annoyed during them. That can be interpreted as being arrogant.

MotorTrend fired them all. MTG is dead. But guys like FriedBurger, well he retired with lots of free ish cars and $$$$$$. He is still doing vids on UTube, all the guys are dding fine and dandy seems to me, but Joe??? I have no idea about what he is now doing. Maybe his vid rant is about just hoping the cars he still lusts for will get cheap and plentiful!!!!

One thing we forget sometimes, is that the classic car hobby is just that..a HOBBY. Seldom will anyone make a profit off their hobby. Yea it can be done, been there done it years ago when it was easy enough....with enough knowledge, luck and being in the right place, but 99% of the hobbiest agree it is just a hobby and hobbies cost $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

I agree with the above statement, the BJ TV BS auctions have hurt our hobby more than anything.

I've just never watched of been a fan of hardly any tv car shows. Stacy David is ok, but even he's about goofy. I mean, here all these guys are building things most of us will never be able to with FREE parts thrown at them for trying to push them on us. I have more fun messin around with my own stuff, rather than watchin somebody else.

When something like this is posted it's obvious that there will be positive and negative comments. The weak show up when they attack you for your opinion, rant about the opinion of others calling it political () then deflect at the end that they really don't care. Lol, it's not that I don't like Volper, (I don't know him) but his message his own opinion and delivery of that message is arrogant.

Back in 2007 when economy crashed classic car values nose dived like lost half their value. So yes obviously market values can and will change. House values go up, go down, house areas go to **** then later revived things change values that is obvious. But this ALL classic muscle cars will lose ALL their value SOON which is what he is saying I am not sure I am buying all of that. I think all old ppl dying off will affect supply and demand but its gonna be a while and to be seen whats gonna happen. Click bait big blow hard type of messaging.
