You may have seen a recent post of mine about moving to the Florida panhandle.

My new job is on Hurlburt Field Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach Florida. Within three weeks I run across a 70 Charger and a Road Runner. A couple weeks I see a Challenger and a 63 Impala.

I finally had work to do in the building they were parked at and met the owners. The Mopar guy owns a 70 Charger, a 70 Mustang Vert, and a Challenger (73?). A buddy in the same building owns the 63 Impala and another guy in the building owns the 70 Mustang fastback. Never found out who owns the Roadrunner.

Here, I was concerned about finds car guys and they're right on the same base where I work. These guys love driving them too!

That is awesome. We moved 8 years ago. I still have not met any local MOPAR guys (my fault surely). I lost my ability to paint a car at home like I used to cause of our new house. I haven't found a local painter nor a local automotive machine shop. I haven't seen a car show in a century. Damn, my life sucks. :)

Nice! Settling just fine I see!
Hope the move went well.

Thanks Steve. One more piece to go and we'll be settling in will be cliser to complete. We close on our house here this Friday. Then I'll have one more trip to Georgia get the rest of our household goods.

Nice! Any issues selling yours in Georgia? Hope everything goes smoothly for you both.

The Georgia place sold in 5 weeks. Felt like a long time to us as we moved into a short term rental in Florida and still paid our mortgage!!!

But 5 weeks is good. Here in the Florida panhandle houses priced fairly are sold in days!!

Hulburt is a nice area. I have about 400 Special Ops missions in C-130s under my belt. I have been to Hurlburt many times.

Thank you for your service!!

I love being back on an Air Force Base. For the first two weeks anytime I answered the phone, I said TRDI, Sergeant Trace here!! Old habits die hard.

Hurlburt is a very nice Base. Super nice facilities because of the mission. The AC-130 is no joke. It'll ruin day if you're on the wrong end!!

I went into a squadron gym. Mind you, there are three very nice fitness centers on base but most squadrons also have a gym...it's special Ops!

Anyway, so I go into this gym - it's huge...everything you can imagine. In all four top corners of the room were huge speakers blaring - I mean blaring Alice in Chains "Rooster." I didn't recognize the next song but it was heavy metal, and I thought - yup, that's exactly the kind of music these guys need to listen to while working out.

I'm impressed with the dedication of these guys. They are the ones out there doing things that nobody knows about and making a difference.

Hang in there, man. When you least expect it, you'll run into the perfect car guy.
