Hello All,
What are the differences between the 65 Barracuda and 65 Valiant Lower Control Arms?
I'm looking at the Helwig #5906 Front Sway bar kit. It states it will fit a 64-67 Barracuda.
I want to put this on a 65 Valiant that currently has no sway bar installed.
Will the Hellwig bolt directly on? or do I have to replace the LCA's with ones that have a sway bar tab installed?
Thanks

Nothing different between those lower control arms. Yes, they have to have the sway bar tabs. 65

all of the non tabbed arms are the same from 62/63 until 76

the 5906 is for 67~72 cars

you need the 55914 for the 64~66 cars

you do not need tabbed arms the pick up tabs are bolted to the shock mount

According to Summit for my 65 Cuda I would need #55917.
that's a tubular bar that's narrower for 18" wheel clearance on 67~72 cars (and doesn't work with factory LCA tabs).

it might work with an early body because it's narrower, but the mounts will be different. proceed at your own risk.

No difference between a Valiant and a Barracuda (or Dart for that matter) in a given year. There were both sway bar and non-sway bar versions though. With aftermarket bars, there is usually a kit to install their bar on cars without the sway bar tab. Some use the lower shock bolt where you add a bracket. Some require a weld-on tab. And still others make one for a car with the factory tabs. Check their catalog or give them a call to get the correct one for your application.
