Another thing I learned at my stint at NAS Miramar, with a part time job at the auto shop, is that there can be a SURPRISING number of cars with a SLIPPED BALANCER RING. That is where (about 1971) I learned how to use piston stops.

Yup. I've and more than one Yamaha 650 twin street bike. The newer ones had a single coil breakerless for both holes, but mine all had conventional battery fired coil/ points one for each jug
 
Sorry for the derail...what year SR????

I think it was a 71 and 72 and a couple of them Linthing swing arm raked out front forks. But even drilled holes in the pistons with Reed valves for better flow

My little brother had a Hodaka some sort of Rat when he was killed in a car crash in 73. Man I had not thought of that in YEARS. I was never a dirt rider "much."
