The original /6 I took out of my 72 Scamp the distributor was hard wired to to the wiring harness and the /6 out of a 73 Duster I bought has a connector, the original wiring harness the colors are black and red, the wiring on the distributor in the /6 I bought are black and white, if I cut the connector does black go to black and red to white? Thanks in advance.

Take the caps off the two distributors and compare the "guts" The one you have with the connector HAS to be a Mopar breakerless distributor, like this:

(This one is a V8)

But your red/ black setup just MIGHT be a Pertronix conversion, a horse of a different color:

Okay I will check that but is it red to white and black to black on the wires?

Hook it up and find out.
It won't hurt anything, and the worst it will do is run crappy or not start at all.
If they are wrong the phasing of the rotor will be off and switching the two will fix it.

Thanks, wasn't sure if it would hurt anything.
