Is there any advantage to locking out a distributor on a mildly built engine? If so what amount of total timing should I be looking for?

No. For yours, run it with the blue bushing that it came with, which is 21* of advance. Then set it at about 14* initial to come up with 35* total. Locking it out is more for engines with bigger cams that need ALOT of initial advance.

go up 1 stage at a time. I start with 1 heavy silver and 1 light silver.

Everything hooked up and running, but under a load up to around 3,000 RPM I've got a terrible miss after that it clears up. I've been told that a bad amp gauge could be the cause, any thoughts?
