I watched a DVD on rebuilding this trans and it looked like something even I could do. But there's gotta be stuff that isn't covered. I don't know what that could be but there's almost always stuff that gets left out of tutorials, because instructions usually deal with best case scenarios, and life is just not like that sometimes.
Like hi perf parts... do they simply assemble in place of stock or is there machining or whatnot that has to be done? Maybe it boils down to what peformance upgrades can be done by a DIYer?

Nope, that's it. Was it the Zank video?

The hardest thing to do is replace the bushings. Might take them to a trans shop and have them popped in. The installation mandrels are expensive.

I bought that video also the first time I did a trans back in 2005....

Pretty simple ........

Good thread! I was looking into buying this dvd as well. I bought the paul zank video for rebuilding the rear end.. did not have specific info on the 8.25 like I was hoping, but was a great help and very educational.
