Hi all. My dome light stopped working. Checked fuse, bulb and switch. Power to switch so I’ll try a new switch. Is there a trick to disconnecting the blade connectors on the switch?? After an hour, I gave up and thought I should ask. Thanks!

Pull them off? May be use pliers?

Tried that. Can wiggle them but I’m wondering if there is a locking tab I need to pry up or out. Just don’t want to break the connectors and not much wire to work with.

Photo? Look up a replacement switch and see if there is a lock of some sort there.

there is a pull out lock one on each side

You mean the door switch, not the main headlight switch, right? The connectors should just pull off.

yes, door plunger switches. Traditional blade type connectors. I'll get a pic to post. There is a small portion of the female side that sticks out . Maybe that allows access for a pick or such to release a lock tab.

They just pull off. The blades are also the contacts . Work it and you'll see the blades and male plug ends are one piece. You break the plastic they are shot. The switch has male and the plugs on the wire are small female. Iff you need a picture here. They are fuzzy if you need better I can go take some I am installing them today on a Demon.

Thanks. Yes, those are what I have. Must be on really snug. If I cross the two poles while working them off, will that cause fuse to blow?? Thinking not, but worth asking.

Disconnect the battery while working to get it out. I just was working on a Demon with the same issue. It was the plug in the trunk going to the dome light.

They are in the ground circuit, worst case the light comes on.

Hold the plunger with needle nose and use a wrench to thread the switch out of the door frame. Pull the switch out slowly so the wires follow. Pull them off, connect to new switch and reinstall... again holding the plunger with needle nose.

Yes. Will do that. Coincidentally, I had been playing with the headlight switch , adjusting the gauge brightness, when the dome light issue occurred. Wondering if a failing headlight switch may create a dome light issue.
