when they get behind the wheel of a car. Sunday we got invited to dinner by some friends. Helped them pick up a crap load of fence posts with the trailer during the week, would not take any fuel money from them so this was my "payment". Every time we accelerated, from a light or onto the freeway he buried the throttle....only to slam the brakes on as he approached the vehicle in front of us. Out on I90 heading to Idaho, cruise control set at 75 or so.....and floors it for a couple of seconds only to....you guessed it....slam the brakes on to get back to 75. Coming home he was all over this guys rear bumper in a newer Dodge pickemup with an oil burner. Diesel guy was going the speed limit. Came to a steep, but short hill and ED thought he was going to pass him....sorry, passing a diesel pickemup going up a hill with a gas motored SUV aint gonna happen if the diesel guy does not want it to. Top of hill passing lane goes away, diesel guy now goes 10 under the speed limit...I was trying not to laugh as Ed was freaking out....keep in mind that Ed is 68 or so....
Coming home from town yesterday, 4 lane 50 mph road. I am in the right lane, cruise set at 53 or so. Car is hauling *** in the left lane approaching us...but never passes....pulls in behind us. Becomes single lane road, a bit windy...and they fade away. Speed limit drops to 35...and this guy is on our rear bumper, trying to push me...swerving like he is gonna pass in a no passing area. Limit goes back up to 50, set the cruise at 55 and drive. This section of the road is a bit windy. Even with a car on the trailer I still manage to go 55 thru the area. Get to where the road straightens out, car behind me was nowhere to be seen. Limit drops to 40...a mile later there he is again, acting all erratic....Don't understand folks sometimes....in an area where the limit is slower and they want to haul *** yet when the limit goes up they don't....

My Brother has a friend that only knows 2 throttle positions, and I'm sure you know what they are.
There are two major roads going from here to Prescott (89A and hwy 69) and I try to avoid hwy69 at ALL costs, because the people drive like A HOLES on that road.
Speed limit is 45, but everyone does 60 and has to mess with the other drivers by passing and cutting people off.
It's two fairly narrow lanes each way with a divider wall.
People texting can't keep it in thier own lane, and everone else is try to "get over" on everyone else.
It's like they can't just drive along and get there, it has to be like some huge important competition, and there just ain't anywhere that important to get to around here. :-)

The ones I hate are when you're on a 4 lane divided highway . Then come and ride on your butt like they're in a NASCAR race and are drafting off you
when they can pass. All it takes is a deer or something to run out in front of
you. That would be one nasty mess.

I'd like to have a light up sign in the back that says this ain't Daytona,
I'm not Dale Jr. and your not Jeff Gordon so back off.

I had to run down to Phoenix over the weekend and I saw one guy about 4 feet off the bumper of the car in front of him at 90 miles an hour.
Both of em old guys (way older than any of us) :-)
Speed limit is 75, but most of em do 90-100

blufish, There was a old guy here in town that had a spring loaded sign in the back window of his car that was cable operated. When someone got too close he would pop it up with the saying"GET OFF MY ***". Out here we get plenty of tailgaters.

That's hilarious!

Love it!

I "discuss" this with my wife. She follows way to close. "You just don't like my driving." ..and I reply when you follow too close that's a correct statement. That gets me in trouble for a minute but I don't care because it's unsafe.

People need to understand that following on the bumper in front of you is NOT going to make that person speed up. If fact 9 out 10 times they will likely slow down a bit just to tweak you. Definitely one of my pet peeves.

Took a four hour trip with my uncle and I seriously thought he was blocking, racing, or just pissed off at the guy next to us on the freeway. It happening all four hours with various different cars next to us lol.. I guess some people are just really uptight when driving. Like you said though either on or off the gas the whole time, no in between.

I drive for a living and every day on my 3hr each way route I get people who speed past me in the #1 lane and then pull over in front of me in the #2 right on my front bumper so that I have to tap off my cruise and drop back to be a safe distance behind them. Then they slowly slow down so that even at a lower cruise setting I'm forced to either pass them or slow down more. When I move over to pass them, they suddenly wake up and speed up again moving way out in front of me. So I move back over to the #2 and after a short while there they are again right in front of me slo-o-o-owing down and the cycle continues for twenty miles... AAAARRRRGH!

I love the ones that are drafting you as you pass a car, and then try to pass you on the right, before there is enough room to safely pull back over.

We have a place around here where two roads come off a hill, and Y into a single lane to tunnel under the railroad track. You have to stop at the Y and make sure noting is coming through the tunnel from the other direction. Anyway, one night at church, a teenage girl left in her Dad's T-Bird. She went down the hill, and when she got to the bottom she was going to fast to make the Y much less stop. She skidded through the Y, just missed the concrete retaining wall at the tunnel entrance, and skidded at about a 80 degree angle up through ballast rock to hang the front wheel on the railroad track, 30 feet above the road.
Her first words were, "I wasn't speeding, honest!"

Coming back east a few years ago when we were moving from Idaho Falls to Bellefonte pa we came across this little civic I think it was somewhere in Michigan it was a 65 MPH speed Limit and he was doing about 55 MPH. We had overloaded the trailer and we ourselves couldn't do more than 60 MPH the whole way (and my dad listens to classical music and my headphones were broken) and this guy just out of the blue slams on his brakes in front of us and there was about 100 maybe 150 feet of space between the trucks bumper and his rear bumper. So naturally we hit our brakes hard, hard enough to make the trailer start doing the hobble 2 step dance only to see the Honda take off like a damn tomahawk missile. Few gas stations later he found him there and when asked about his little act he stated that he was testing his boost controller........... WHAT!!!!!!!!!!

One of my buddies form NJ had either pedal in the floor at all times....Joe would be barreling along, full throttle and come up behind someone in his lane.....lane over would be open...and slam the brakes on, spend a few seconds behind this person and then floor the other pedal repeating this process every time he approached someone. He complained to me of his trucks terrible fuel mileage...and the fact that rotors/pads got replaced almost as frequently as he changed the oil. Never could get thru to him that it was his driving style. We made frequent trips to Prescott with him before we left AZ. He drove one weekend....truck, and 05 F150 got 9mpg the week he drove....week I drove got a tick under 20 mpg. The week he drove we got there about 5 minutes faster than the week I did. It was about 130 miles from my house to j&g gun sales..

So today on my way home I watched a guy in a mini van pass 2 cars,(they were in both lanes) on the right side burm of the road. The speed limit is 45 they were going about 60. I guess they just weren't going fast enough for him.My wife said maybe he had to poop.
