Gentlemen I am lost! Workin on a 65' Valiant 4dr (AV-1 says service manual). Trying to removal door glass in the rear door. Service manual says, "loosen front running channel and push forward to slide glass outta the channel", the front running channel is bolted to the door so there is no extra room to push forward... so I loosened the rear channel and pushed that back, but due to the 1/4 glass it really only moves 1/2" on the bottom, and no movement up top. So I cant really get the glass outta the channel while still in the door. Service manual then says lift glass straight up... well this is a hardtop and there is a door frame in the way. What am I doing wrong here? Am I missing something? And yes I tried find the "Hardtop" version of those instructions in the service manual and came up short. Any help would really be appreciated! Thanks!!!

That divider between the door glass and fixed vent glass has to come loose. It has a screw up top usually under the weatherstrip, and a bolt down below. Once the vent assembly is loose, tip the top of the divider toward the front and the bottom of the divider toward the rear. This will allow the glass to come out of it's track.

The catwhiskers have to come out, and the U-channel weatherstrip at the top of the door frame has to come out too, to allow the divider to move forward. Also, your car is a sedan, not a hardtop.
