I'm setting up my rear for disk brakes using the Scarebird adapter. I was wondering if I should use two gaskets or one. The Scarebird adapter bolts on the axle housing flange where axle flange would go. Then the axle flange goes on top of the adapter. I was thinking of putting one between the each of them like a sandwich, between the housing and adapter and the axle flange and adapter. Does it matter or just sealing with one gasket between the housing flange and adapter fine.

I would think the one gasket closest to the axle housing is all that needed regardless of how many more pieces are stacked beyond it.

If it goes exactly in place of the drum backing plate then I would treat it like the backing plate and use the same gasket arrangment as that.

Wasn't the gasket that goes behind the backing plate foam?

The steel embossed gasket goes between the housing and backing plate and the foam gasket goes between the backing plate and axle bearing plate.
