This winter or next spring I want to swap the slant 6 out of my 71 Duster with a 318 I have.I will be running a 4 speed transmission. Are there any issues with Dougs headers and a 4 speed? Zbar clearance? What about the starter? Can you pull the start with out any issues?

Thanks,Jim

there have been noted clearance issues with headers and a 4 speed, concerning the Z-bar. I have TTI headers on my 318, and I used the TTI designed Z-bar, and I havent had any problems. clears fine....Dougs headers are similar in design to TTI...makes me wonder if the TTI Z-bar would clear those headers as well...

other guys also, bend, weld, reshape the factory z-bar to clear...

Z bar was the only real issue I had with 4 gear and Dougs/tti headers.

Ditto here. I just cut the clutch-side arm off, relocated it to the end of the shaft (with a slight angle for clearance) and was good to go. I used the smallest of the small starters - '99 Ram (and yes, there are different armature lengths on the mini starters.)
