Those that have swapped 904's for 727's does anyone recall how much they shortened their driveshaft on a Dart? I did a rough measure and came up with approx 5" does that sound about right?
Thanks

4" difference in length (it's really 4.01" difference, but ten thousands isn't gonna hurt anything).

don't forget -- when measuring for driveshaft, put the trans yoke all the way in, then pull it out an inch or so to get the necessary "slack" to get the pinion yoke/u-joint assy' apart. also gives it room to move with suspension travel so there isn't any binding.
i'm sure that you remembered to do it that way, just want to put it out there for rookies like me learning the hard way.

Measured from the back of the tailhousing to the center of the u-joint the yoke should be sticking out of the trans about 3.74".

Place spline in rear of 727 and pull out 1 inch. Measure from center of rear u joint cup to center of u joint cup at the rear of tranny and that is the number you are looking for. Mine is 45.5 inches center to center. I'm using 1350 yokes with a 3" shaft behind a 500 HP + 440 and a 727 w/B&M shift improver worked with a B&M Z gate floor shifter.
