how much would someone need to shorten a driveshaft to go from a 904 to 727/4 speed length?

i know the 4 speed and 727 are same length and i have a shorter 904 in it now. it has an 8 3/4 which is staying.....so im thinking a few inches not sure.

Rani here's a bunch of info I downloaded about Mopar automatics and if you scroll down about 1/4 of the way you'll find a page from a magazine that says there's 4" diff. in length from a 727 to a 904. I have never measured to verify it though

I just went from a 4 speed to a 727, and the drive shaft is 4 inches shorter for the 727.

maybe this will help some....Rani, I think you will find that if your going from a 904 to a b body 4 speed, you will also need to shorten the drive shaft 4 inches.

Do you have a place to shorten your current driveshaft and install the correct slip-spline or do you need one already the correct length & ends?
