Dual Hood Scoops Functional

-
The scoops are certainly cool. Mine aren’t functional which is what I want so no dirt can enter under the hood.

What about all the dirt that comes in through the grille and up from under the engine? I mean, if you never drive it maybe. But if you do drive it the air flow through and under the car gets everything plenty dirty.

Don't forget that the scoops also let heat out when the car is parked. Just another benefit.

Minor upkeep on a 7500 mile road trip last year with a two scoop hood with holes yielded an engine compartment that looks like this, so I wouldn't worry...

If you make the holes too big for the factory type gasket, Split a piece of 3/16 vacuum line down one side with a razor blade and slip it on the edge all the way around the hole. It will be enough to keep rain from running up the hood and in the open hole.

I imagine this has been tried before but here should be some way to fab duct from the holes to the air cleaner opening but even then there is no ram air effect if scoops are too low...

Yeah the flat hoods are starting to grow on me after 35 years finally

If interested, look at my post (about 2022) on making functional hood scoops. I have no way to truly measure the actual benefit (if any). However, it does seem to run slightly better, which I believe to be from cooler air being drawn in.
