What are the advantages of having a dual point distributor?
will a regular 12 volt coil work with the dual point or does it need to be changed

Does anybody know the proper way to set up the dual points
on 273

Thanks

I was 17 in 1961 and had changed from dual points to a Vertex magneto and never looked back

I liked the mallory dual point distributor I had in my 289 4 speed 66 mustang
but these days you cant beat electronic ignition,

I havent set a pair of points since 1980 and right now I'm suffering from CRS (can't remember sh...er..um, stuff!).

There are different dwell settings for dual points as one closes first, then the other, the first one opens... then the second... this allows more current flow into the coil primary windings...

Instructions for setting them are here...

...and when set up properly, are just fine for igniting a fuel/air mixture. Just because its old technology doesn't make it useless.
