I've been keeping my eye open for a nice Duster. I prefer 70 and 71 models. I have come across a couple of Dusters claiming to be 72 models but have 71 tailights. Does anyone know if Plymouth made some 72 models with 71 model tailights? These have 1972 vin numbers and 72 side marker lights but 71 tailights.

Tail panel swaps. Lot of people prefer the 70-71 lights, plus 72 lights are hard to find.
Mopar used a lot of leftovers, but not in this case
Personally I like the 72 lights best, but I may be somewhat biased.

70-71 look the best. Sexiest tail lights of the 70's. 70 roadrunner ranks up there too.
Next time you see a 72 with 71 lights, take a look and see if there's any sign of patching or tail panel swap.

The 2 I saw had surface mount side marker lights (72) , 72 vins and 71 taillights.

Knuckle, I thought 70-71 looked best until I saw your pic. Hmmm....

I like them all, but Chrysler really had a way with plastic!
71 Cuda grill
Sharktooth grill
Multiple tail lights, especially Coronets, Chargers, Challengers...

It must be the white stripe that makes them look good. I had a 72 gold Duster with the gold stripe and I thought they looked terrible compared to my 71 Duster 340, which had the black stripe.
