The goal of "Less Slow" continues... here is a piece that is critical to our goal. It's a FTI 9.5 torque converter. Less hope it does what we want it to do!!

FINALLY .... got a few moments and started pulling the transmission this morning. Going to swap in the new converter along with a different transmission. Can't believe how fast time goes. 2 more months till the race season is done, and this car WILL hit the track

Are you going to do a video doing a test hit.

OK, I'll pick up on the video when you're dumping the fluid in. :D
Not showing the install. I did that on the truck and van. Just going to explain what we went with.... when both transmissions are side by side. My hope is when we drive/test on it a little, that it continues to bite like a croc. :D

Pulled the 904 today and got the other 904 bolted back in LOL... I just got to hook everything up. I remember I used to do this swap in a jiffy. Now, seems I worked a some hours and still have to finish it up. I move slower with age, not as flexible either. Actually, I blame the fact that I've been pulling transmissions on pickups and vans and that made the Duster seem like confined space :D Tell ya, vans will spoil ya on transmission work.

I'll give an AMEN to vans spoiling you! The biggest thing you have to remember is to keep your dirty hands off the carpet and seats getting in and out.....lol. The only better place than a van to remove bellhousing bolts is the shop floor.

Everything is hooked up now. Just got to add fluid. I hope to add fluid tomorrow, check for leaks, and go for a spin.
My Question: What do YOU think the improvement will be with the following changes over the 12.8's 1/4 mile time?
  1. 3.23's to 3.91's
  2. stock converter to 9.5" converter Stall TBD (should actually flash stall with my motor about 2700)
  3. stock 904 to 904 with upgrades including RMVB. This swap was more in the line of durability other than ET improvement
Quick Engine Facts:
  • The cam is .427 lift and 204 @050 on the intake. Cam is very small, and I realize it doesn't compliment the heads at all.
  • OOTB speedmaster heads (black friday special!).
  • Pistons are the dished factory style.
  • eddy rpm (not air gap) w/750 brawler

Tim, I like the Eddy RPM. It performs really well! It will be interesting to see how it performs because you're going to wind up quicker and be out of the optimum range for that small Cam. I bet there is almost no gain

The goal is to swap the engine as well... but I believe we'll make a pass with it with this engine before moving forward

I shift it at 5k rpm's. You may be correct, we'll soon see!
