Dynamic converter

-
Yes sir that would be the flash, I did not ask about foot brake. He did say it would be nice for around town. But I will again ask what he recommends, would there be any draw back to either of the already suggested stall? I have a big polly 9X11 or 12 in Trans cooler with a deep pan already. Once again car is only weekend car not daily driver.

You should be ok as long as you have the big cooler.
From my experience, the tighter converter will work good on the street and not produce much extra heat when used in conjunction with the big cooler.

Too loose at your otherwise ideal cruise rpm is where trouble begins on the street.

To avoid this in my truck which is heavier than an A, I went with a 10 inch setup tight to produce a 3800 rpm flash stall. I will still be able to run around at 3000 rpm without heating the hell out of everything.

Have fun!

Run it!

Run exactly what they say IF you have gave them accurate information. They are notorious for giving out extremely high stall recommendations but the converters work fine once installed with no complaints. Numerous threads have been created about this very subject. You wont be disappointed.

i thought they were nuts when they told me to go with the 3800 converter. until i put it in the car. damn they hit my combo dead on. my car was 90% street though. told them it needed to cruise the street and i would give up some at the track if need be. i was running a 360 with eddy heads and the mp 508 cam with 3.91 gear. i told them i was worried about heat build up and they said not to worry about it. they were right again.

i know when djv was looking to buy his a couple places didn't want to build him one because he was only running a 3.23 gear. dynamic said no problem and built him a 9.5". not sure what rpm his is though. his has been trouble free also. we both drive the cars a lot on the street. we are talking getting on the highway and cruising 2-3 hour trips then sitting in traffic and crawing around town and have had no issues.

i agree. it all revolves around how accurate/honest the info you gave them was.

i have seen threads that said that dynamic missed with their converter. i'm sure you'll hear the same about any converter company. but the thing no one will really know if the proper accurate info was given to them before they built the converter or if they just missed on it.

when you go to order it just go over everything and make sure your completely honest with what you want from the car and the combo.

yes, this is why Im going to call them back and get a correct estimate on my converter

Edit: just talked to him and everything I gave him was exact and he said it should flash like 4200-4500 and drive like a 3500 around town I believe.

What do you brake stall vs what you flash to at WOT from a stop? There is a difference. That's why your converter works good for you.

If you got one that flashed to 3800 but was loose and sloppy down low you'd hate it, and so would your transmission!

............They usually r bang on with their recommendations, as long as they get all the pertinate info......it does seem alittle hi 2 me thou.................kim...........

I agree, just for comparison call Kenny at PTC, he is a Mopar guy. I would think a little lower stall too., I could be wrong but my car weighs 3200 LBS and a 3200 stall was recommended. Of course you have more engine than I do too.

i would foot brake it to 3000 at the track easy. could get 3500 if i really wanted to but 3000 was plenty. nailing the throtle it would flash right to the 3800.

the new converters are very efficient. they have the small case that will give ya the higher stahl and a positive pitch in the fins that lock it up nicely. they just plain work. its not like the old days when anything over 3000 stahl was no good for the street.
