I have a housing that appears to be out of an early B body. Its 44 inches from spring pad center to spring pad center, and about 54 1/4 inches from flange to flange with the backing plates gone.

Looking to use this under my Gremlin bracket car, and have a question.

Are the axle bearings the same on the early housings as the 68-70 B body housings?

Be wary of the housings that used the brake drums retained by castle nuts and cotter keys. I can't recall what they were called but they were used up to 1964.

Correct the tapered axle rears also have a slightly different housing to backing plate bolt pattern as well. I cant even give the one I have from a 59 Dodge Regent away!

Those are still good candidates, you just need to have different housing ends welded on.
