1972 is a split year for these things. Early cars got these...2 pin connector, with a separate ground wire (same as 70-71. Later cars got three spade connectors, as shown in the book.

I don't know the cut off point..
Or perhaps it was a plant specific thing, but this variation causes a lot of confusion
