Just wondering about this, I have the eddy rpm heads on my 360, the 60779 heads for flat tappet cams. They are good up to 6500 rpm and .575 lift with the stock springs that come on the heads. I have the comp XE268-H cam, .480 lift and 268 duration.

I haven't started the motor up yet. But I left the eddy springs in because they are a bit stiffer than the ones comp recommended so I thought they would be fine. Also both are single springs. Am I okay to leave the eddy springs and run the motor? Or should I change them out for the springs comp recommend for that cam. The cam isn't overly aggressive and I'm just driving around the street with the car.

Okay good, glad to hear that, I'll leave the springs then, should be firing it up in a few weeks!

The only issue I can think of is spring pressures. With these fast ramp cams you could end up with the valves slamming closed a bit harder.

Of course I could be in left field too. :D

The XE268 is on the line for single springs. It can use the "ole faithful" 901-16s or the dual springs. You will get more rpm from it with the dual spings but for most people the singles are fine. The Edelbrock springs are fine for that cam profile for most users.

For break In i would use a softer spring. I havent broken in Alot of cams like some of these other guys but the handful I did break in i used a softer spring for reassurance purposes and haven't had a problem. But I've heard of guys back In the day never breaking in flat tappet cams and just slapping them in and racing them witbout issue, but I wouldn't do it though.

You'll be just fine running the same heads/springs with a .533/.552 cam for over 5 years:D:D

KEEP IN MIND.... If you trash that cam without using the spring that Comp recommends, then they will tell you to go jump when you want some warranty.
