do you think the edelbrock 500 cfm thunder series carb is to small for my 318 with edelbrock performer intake and dual exhaust with factory manifolds? Future mods include long tubes, cam. Also going in car are 4.11’s and a 2800 stall. It’s a 74 dart sport.

not at all. Do the calculations on the website and youll find a 318@6200 rpm wont pull 500 cfm. Its safe to err on the small side for carbs. For the money, why not get a 600? I think they are cheaper and the AFB/AVS design really helps to limit the carb to what it needs. The 600 is $50 cheaper new.

I say if you want the thunder series, go 650. It will work great for your 318, and will work great if you ever go 340/360.

On my 318 with factory manifolds/mild cam/2.76 gears and stock converter I gained 2 tenths by going from a 600 eddy to a 670 Holley. I gained another 2 tenths going from the 670 to the 770 holley. Ironically, the 770 also cut the best 60 ft times.

The thunder series carbs can be pricey. I got a smoking deal on a 650 thunder series, but run it on a 360.
I like the Eddie 600 on a 318. Plus they are cheep, and plentiful.

The avs 2 is like $350 and 650 cfm. Thunder series 500 cfm is like $400. Idk what I’m getting just doing research. Also looking at the holley brawler line at 650 cfm.

Yes Sir. With a Performer intake. Great combo on a 318.

You can get a used Performer 600 for around $100 and burn rubber all the way down the street. :)

I just sold the 600 1406 eddy carb off the 318 in my ramcharger I just bought. Like new, 125 bucks to a chivy guy at work. I put a 3310 750 holley on it. Improved.
