Step-brat brought one of her high school friends home and introduced me to Summer (Sommer?). I was really struck by her pretty blue eyes. A few months went by, and the kid brought home another girl. They both walked right past me, so I stopped them and asked the kid who her new friend was. The answer was "Summer", you know her. Well, this time she was wearing glasses and that threw me off completely.

I was working as a United States Border Patrol Agent for a few years. One day, a girl wearing a dress, make-up, and some jewelry was in the office as I was reporting for work. She began speaking to me as if she knew me, but I did not recognize her at all. Come to find out, she was a girl that attended the same Border Patrol Academy Course (50 total cadets) as me and from time to time we worked together in a patrol car on the same shift. Seeing her with cosmetics on her face (and a dress in place of a green uniform) threw me for a loop.

I lived in Juneau, Alaska from 1990 to 1993. In 2001, I was renting an apartment in Tijuana, Mexico, while I was studying Spanish/Political Science at San Diego State University. Therefore, I was crossing the International Border at San Ysidro on a daily basis. One day, walking into the U.S. Customs/Immigration building I saw a guy riding around on a machine that was cleaning/polishing the tile floors of the area we all walked through to enter the United States. He waved me over to say hello, come to find out he recognized me from Juneau, I guess we attended the same small church there on Sundays back in the '90s.

I'll tell ya. I'm very bad at remembering folks names, but for someone like a border patrol to be fooled by people's appearance is a bit disturbing!!! LMAO!!

Very funny, you mean the girl next to you in bed in the morning resembles anything close to the girl from the night before! Well, if she does, then you are a lucky man.

I've lived and worked in 6 states and 4 provinces , You would be amazed how often that happens to me , people I knew years ago in 1 place appear before me somewhere else in a different setting and we both stare at each other trying to figure out who each of us is lol !

ANOTHER story from the old days............

NAS Miramar, 70-74, San Diego. In our travels with our "muscle cars" I ran into a guy in San Diego who was working at some joint they called "S&S Brothers" I THINK. Back then they were swapping most any big Mopar, including hemis, into older pickups, many were Fords. I bought a used tach drive hemi distributor from him. My friend ended up having them do a set of heads for his 383 RR

He was unhappy with the heads, there was "some question."

I get out of the Navy. I spend the next 7 1/2 years at a parts store, then move 50 miles and go to work for another parts store, where I'd spend about another 7-7 1/2 years

"This guy" came in a few times, bearded now, mechanic. Something went "click" in my brain, but it didn't really "register." After he'd been in a few times I asked him "if he had spent time in San Diego."

SUDDENLY it was if I'd accused him of egregious felony!!!! He was visibly shaken, and avoided the question!!!

YUP!! IT was HIM. He was operating an automatic trans shop here locally. Later, things went bad, his wife and him split, and last I knew she still owned it. He was sort of a flake.

growing up, i wasnt quite as polished as i am now

i guess two encounters really stand out
one was with this girl i met at a party my cousin threw
she wasnt the best looking girl at the party, but then again, neither was i
so, i grabbed me a fresh beer, and headed over there
being the polite guy i am, i introduced myself and asked her where she knew my cousin from
her response ?
seriously?
we go to the same school, you, me and her have been in the same class for 2 years now, i sit 2 benches behind you

needless to say, she wasnt too impressed with my never noticing her before

the other one, oddly enough was with the same cousin
me her, and some other people were going to a bar together (theres a novel idea, what could possibly go wrong?)
anyway, were dropping by this girls home to pick her up
i never met her, or her parents, and since she still lived at home, i figured i would introduce myself to her mom
so takes one look at me and says
"i know you...3 weeks ago you knocked my son of his bike, picked up the bike and hit him over the head with it"
now, i had NO recollection of this incident EVER happening...but i also had no reason not to believe her

come to think of it
there was one more "second encounter"
me and the wife had just gotten married
or maybe we were just engaged, who knows
well, one of her college friends comes over and she brought a friend
now the weirdest thing is, this girl she brought looked JUST like the girl i was dating before i met my wife
so she tries to introduce her to me, and im like, come on, off course i know her
only thing is, there were about 5000 miles between this girl and the one i thought she was

Its the same, but different for me.

All my life I've had people walk up and ask if I was so and so, or walk up and start to speak, then turn away at the last moment. Last time was about 2 weeks ago. Guess I have one of those "familiar" faces, lol.

I was sitting in the hospital recovery room with my first wife. A guy came up to me and said "Hey, how are you doing?". I didn't recognize him, but I didn't let on. I figured I would remember once they left. He said "What are you doing here?" and I said "My wife just had surgery" and I pointed at her. I thought it was a pretty stupid question, but whatever. He said "Wife???? Huh???" I said "Yea.. wife..." I had a tough day by then and really didn't want to talk to some dumbass even if I knew him. He said "Then you aren't Father Bob!!" and went on to explain that I looked just like his Catholic priest.

I run into a lot of people I know... My wife says we can't go anywhere without me seeing someone. When it was a customer, it was often hard to remember a name. I always told my wife that if I don't introduce them to you, it's because I have no clue what their name it.

I was just starting to get to "casually" know a friend of a friend of mine, she was cute. Hell I didn't know she had a damn twin sister!!! That got "a little dicey" at a 4x4 "get together" one weekend (night) when the twin was there unknown to me!!!

My wife worked at the same restaurant for 37 years. We can't go to Europe without meeting people we know.
