What does your average machine shop charge to bore an engine .30 over.

Looking to get my 440 machined due to a cylinder full of water.

While i am machining the block what else shall i do?

Thanks

Chad

Your best bet is to take a trip to a referred machine shop for some proper answers.I,m sure someone will chime in for a shop near you.Your in Cali, cheakout Brian at IMM.Good Luck!

Call Brian at IMM ENGINES in Indio.....Just picked up my block after getting machined yesterday along with alot of other stuff. He does great work!

Right now I just want a estimate on a price to get it machined. I'm not sure how water got it but it has been sitting for years before I got the car.

Just looking for a ballpark price on what i'm going to need to spend to get it dipped and bored .30 over

The last time I took a block in they wanted to replace the cam bearings and frost plugs so it all adds up. On a hp engine they will check the main bore alignment too.

You'll find machining cost are very location specific.

Bore hone w/plate 200-280
Deck 100-150
Install cam bearings 50
Tank and mag 75-120
Line hone 150-200
Line Bore 250-450 usually not necessary unless it's really messed up.

Those are just ranges that you might pay
