Engine Trouble I need help!

Hello all I was wondering if anyone could help me pin down some trouble I'm having with my slant 6. Its a bit hard to start which doesn't worry me too much but once I do get it going if I hit the gas too hard it just dies. Happend once pulling into traffic! Not that awesome. Any suggestions on where to start would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like carb problem maybe the choke is sticking

Douche the carb out with some carb cleaner. That's my first step if I have carb issues.

float stuck, lack of fuel pressure, fuel filter bad, choke out of wack. flooding, definately a carb issue

Sounds like the accelerator pump isn't doing it's job. Pull the air cleaner off and with the engine off, work the throttle and see if a squirt of fuel is shot downward in the throat of the carb. If it does, you may have other issues other than carb......such as ignition timing/advance.

I have seen vacuum leaks around the carb base or fittings :-k that will make any engine start hard and die at accelerations, Check all above posts here and make sure your distributor is not ***** out and has to much play in the shaft, wiggle the shaft under your rotator under you Distributor cap, This also will make it hard to start and die at acceleration.
I have been threw this myself when I bought a used distributor.
