So I just got the motor back from school and all that needs to be done is as follows:
Deck the Block
Balance the Bottom End
Install the Cam bearings
Install the Cam
Degree the Cam
Install the Pistons on the Rods
Gap the Piston Rings
Put the Rings on the Pistons
and Assemble the short block so they can degree the cam

If anyone is Near me that can help me when I am ready to do the assembly. Please let me know, I will be at a Friends house becasue he has tools that he lets me use

Assembly is one thing but balancing the rotating assembly should be done by a reputable machine shop. You might want to add some mallory costs to that as well. Good luck.

whats mallory cost?
o ya i have a place in hayward that will be doing it

Deck the Block
This requires a machine shop with a decking fixture. No one is going to have this in thier garage.
Balance the Bottom End
As mentioned before, this requires a special machine and you do not want to know the price of Mallory.
Install the Cam bearings
Another special tool, but obtainable. Costs about $300.
Install the Cam
Degree the Cam
More special tools, but you could probably get away with spending $100
Install the Pistons on the Rods
Press fit? Bring it to the shop. Floating? You can do it yourself.
Gap the Piston Rings
Put the Rings on the Pistons
Set of feeler gauges and a fine flat file will work.
and Assemble the short block so they can degree the cam

You do realize that you're asking for someone to do a $1000 worth of work for you at a strangers house, with unknown tools on a block that's probably lying on the floor. Have you picked up one (or more) of the many fine books out there on engine building and read it cover to cover? I'm betting not or I wouldn't have had to mention the above items.

Get some books and read up on this stuff. Show us how badly you want to be a true hot rodder. We will help, but asking someone for this is a lot. God bless the person who takes this on, for they are a true angel.

Please don't think I'm being a peckerhead (although it does go with my avatar, lol!), I'm just clueing you in to what your asking. There's even more work and tools involved in this than I mentioned.

WHAT?????????? I said thats what is needed to be done to the block still not that if someone close can do that all. I just need help with the assembly DANG!

and im going to degree the cam my self

the only things i will need help with is installing the pistons/rods into the motor, putting the crank in and guidence with degreeing the cam. Everything else is being done at a machine shop

Ahh! Big difference. I was going by this "If anyone is Near me that can help me when I am ready to do these things Please let me know, I will be at a Friends house becasue he has tools that he lets me use" below your post of things that need to be done.

Forgive me if I missunderstood. :) You might have better luck if you get the rest of the machine shop stuff done first. Someone may be able to help you out.

haha sorry bout that, ya im getting it done in about 3 weeks just wanted to see if i had anybody that would help.

LOL, @ Ramcharger and 74Brnt O. That was funny.

Sorry, I can't afford the time to come and play. Gas would kill as well.

Hehehe! If he were here in Denver, I get it on the engine stand and spend few hours a week with him. If he blew it up, I'd have to kill 'em though, lol. It would also require a donation of copious amount of Jack Daniels. :)

hmm see if it were something of the tequila sort i might be with you...(SHHHHH) haha
