Engine year?

I remember that the engine year was stamped on the pad with the engine gize. I have a 383G or G383 and was wondering what year engine it was. Anyone got a clue.

I think my old 440 was a D440HP engine from 68, so I would guess 71 model.

G=1971 for the 383

E 440 HP was on my old '69 Coronet R/T, so everyone is right in line here.

should have the year stamped on the side of the block

 

[Small Block]

Date is cast on the pass side of the block and the displacment is cast on the drivers side under the exhaust manifold.
