I hate to do this kind of stuff, but I was just wondering what other A-body people think my car should be able to pull off on the 1/4 based on my combo.

73 Duster
Fiberglass Hood with Dual snorkel scoop
All the seats (both front buckets, rear bench)
No carpet yet
15x4" Weld Pro Stars with 165R15 tires
26x9" slicks
8 3/4 rear axle with 3.91 gears (sure grip)
727 with a shift kit
About 2200 stall converter
Cheetah SCS shifter (would be shifted manually)

1968 340 Block (10.5:1)
LD340 Intake manifold
650 CFM Speed Demon
Dynomax Headers
Purple Shaft Cam (.484/284)
X heads (2.02/1.60s) stock

What does that combo sound like it would run, then also how much better would it perform with the X heads ported and polished, with the .508/292 Mopar cam and a 3000-3500 stall converter

You said in another thread you go racing every friday night . So what does it run?
I haven't run the Duster.

It isn't ready for it. I have been bracket racing this beast all year (and it has me 12th in points ;) )

Plus, even if I ran it at my local track, its still only 1/8, so I would still be asking until I trailered the car another half hour to Bradenton

You can convert 8th mile times to 1/4 mile times.
Yes, but not as accurate as I like...I know its like 1.54 or 1.56 times the 1/8 mile time, but that doesn't work for all cars. The Intrepid for example, has no bottom end. If I converted its 1/8 times into 1/4 with the conversion, it comes out about 7 tenths higher than it actually runs, since that has been on the 1/4 mile, and not just the 1/8.

I would say 12.9-13.0 range. If you do the cam, head, and converter change you should also look into more gears. That could put you into the low 12s.

Definetly needs more convertor with the .484 cam to wake it up. Get a good 3000 or so 10" convertor and go run 12's ! Ron
