Natural disasters really suck, I lived thru one but so minor compared to your situation, seems like you are on track for assistance now and that is a good thing. Wishing the best to you and your family, I hope they get your town up and running sooner then expected.

Went back and re-read it...it said up to 6 months. Hopefully they get the water/sewage issue squared away quickly. Can not imagine what it is like to be displaced for even a few days. When I was a kid we were without power for a few days in the winter thanks to one of those Noreasters, or what ever it is called. While we were still in our house and had a fireplace to keep warm it still was not much fun. Hope you house & possessions are secure.....
 
Prayers sent. Stay positive. Not to minimize the ordeal you're going through but in retrospect something good will come out of this.
 
If you get to go back to your house open up your sewer cleanouts on the outside of the house. there is no telling what is going to happen to the sewer lines before it is fixed and it is better for that stuff to leak outside the house than in.

Im in north Longmont by the wal mart on 66 and have a few friends that lost there house in the flood im sorry to hear of all your troubles and I hope things go well for you and your family
 
Well, some good news to report for a change,

Some very nice folks in Boulder posted a note at our church that they had living space on their farm. A friend of ours was volenteering at the church saw this note and thougth of us.

We call them and went to see the space this evening. Its an old farm house built in the 1880's, and has been remodeled a couple times. They have an upstairs bedroom, bath, and small office space. The stairway has a door at the bottom so we can keep our kittys upstairs with us so they dont have to deal with the 2 dogs, and 6 indoor/outdoor farm cats that they have..lol
This is kind of a working farm, they raise sheep, and sell the wool or something. Anyway, nice older people, big house with lots of room, and a built in petting zoo for my wife who loves the animals..

Weird how things work out, we're going to try it for a while and see how it goes. This is a totally free place to stay, they are not asking for rent, just want to help. If we do end up getting some fema money, some or maybe all of it will go to these fine folks.

Never thought i'd be living on a farm...wow
We move in tomorrow.

I'm glad something is starting to go your way. I hope this works out for you and the wife. Sucks to go through something like this. Even worse when you can't be together. Good luck. I'm pulling for ya.
 

My personal natural disasters totally sucked, I'll be honest -- but there are positive things that come from it (as you're finding out now MileHigh). You never realize how strong and tough you are until adversity hands you a whopper, and realizing that there really ARE good people in the world who extend a helping hand without wanting anything in return reinforces your faith in humanity.

I'm beyond thrilled to hear about your farm house "motel"!! Your support network is growing by the minute ... :-D Keep the great news coming!
 
Great news on the place to live! Were you able to go into your house yet? Do they have national guard keeping places from getting vandelized?

Yep, they let us in yesterday for a few hours. House is fine, all our stuff is fine. And the Dart is still tucked away in the garage. There is still very much a national gaurd presence in the town. A crew of about a dozen national gaurd are assigned to the sheriff's office, and their goal is to patrol the town and try to stop any looting before it happens.
So far, so good.
 
I hope it all stays safe for you!! If you need a place to put your ride or stuff let me know, however I do not have any inside car storage.
 
Thanks everyone, well we're moved in, but certainly not organized yet. I cant believe how much crap the wife brought with her. LOL

This is going to be a little weird for me, i'm a little shy around new people, and now we've moved into a house, sharing the kitchen, fridge, etc. with 2 people that we'd never met till yesterday. Going to be a little uncomfortable for me for a while. But wife wanted to move in here so bad I think she would dis-own me if I had said no to this place.

But at least we're together, me, wife, and the two kitty's, Jeffrey and Graciemae.

You'll be surprised how quickly you take to this kind older couple and to staying there. It's a kind of 'culture shock.' In a few days you will feel right at home and you'll be sad when the time comes to leave them.
 
Just saw and read through this. Glad you and the family are together MHD. As far as all others in CO, hope all of you are doing ok also!!!!
