Im doing away with the side molding trim on the dart. I know some of the purist will probably get bent out a shape at me... The question is what are the extensions made of. I dont know if its aluminum or what the hell it is. I know it isnt steel and I'm trying to figure out the best way to fill them in. All the sheet metal work is pretty much done except for a lil work left to do when I get home and get to fire up the new stud welder for about 1-2 hours.. Then its goingt o be detail time with the sanding block and getting the engine/trans out and getting ready to paint the eng bay. I just want to have every thing ready and fit right before I start taking the fenders off. I know they arent that big a deal and would be probably impossible to misalign due to filling the lil trim hole but it was on my mind... I have 3 weeks to plan on how to get the car ready and what work I'm going to do then it will all go out the window when I get home. LMAO I cant stay on one part for too long then I get bored, frustrated or pissed and get on something else.. The ext filling might be cool off and beer 30 time.

I think they call that pot metal all the ones i have fixed i used liquid steel i clean it good take a piece of 36or40 ruff it up put it on the inside and out spread it out on the in side let it set over night then sand or file and finish. the last one I did was 10 years ago and still looks good...Artie

I just took a small ballpene hammer and( lightly) tap it to like dent it to hold more after you fill the hole you can finsh it with body plastic..

They could also be fiberglass. Or mabby that is just the 70 Dart? They did switch to pot metal but I don't remember when.

Yeah Thanks burnt and godfather they seem to be made out of pot metal as stated earlier tho.
Godfather one more question - So you went ahead and filled with liquid metal shaved smooth after setting up and peen a little then finish with filler? I havent used the liquid metal on anything like this and I would hate for it to crack or act like a bad bondo job... :D Trust me I have seen them LMBO
