Fiberglass Hood w/ Stock Springs

Front fenders ARE quarter panels.
Really?? I have been working on cars for 60 years, and I have never heard a front fender called a quarter panel. I had always thought that fenders were bolted on and that quarter panels were welded on. I am NOT questioning your knowledge, but I just Googled "What is the difference between a fender and a quarter panel"? Every single answer that popped up said some combination of "Fenders are in the front and quarter panels are in the rear" or "Fenders bolt on and quarter panels are welded on." Nowhere did I see anything that said a front fender is also considered to be a quarter panel.

Our friends in the UK call um Wings

Makes me wonder what they call the big things on airplanes that produce the lift and provide a place to fasten the engines on to.
Trunk=Boot. Bonnet=Hood. Convertable Roof= Hood.
I think it the stronger beer they drink
And I worked in body and paint shop and never ever called a fender quarter panel.
New to me

I worked in the industry for over forty years and I have never, Never heard anyone call a fender a quarter panel. It’s only the no nothing no it alls on the internet that call fenders quarter panels…
I'm the same way. A lot of my customers call front fenders quarter panels. I'm pretty sure I've seen them called quarter panels in some manual or I would have not said that.
I'll see what I can do to back that up.

Okay I'm full of ****. lol but as long as we understand the cognitive meaning it doesn't really matter in my book. Some people call the fenders front quarter panels. Is that technically correct, I don't think so, but I sure know what the hell they are talking about.

Like I said, no nothing know it all…

Hey, it worked for the 69 1/2 440 6 pack/barrel cars. That is actually a good idea.
I did not know the factory did that. I do that on deck lid hinges when replacing rear quarter panels sometimes. Those torsional springs can be a bugger. It helps for painting too.

Yes. Have you ever been to a Mopar show and seen a 69 1/2 440 6 Pack/Barrel Road Runner/Super bee with the hood on the ground (probably sitting up off the ground on 4 little pegs). They came from the factory like that.

In case anyone actually cares about the fiberglass hoods with stock springs, this is the only bit of evidence I found that suggests it will work:

69 Barracuda glass hood + hemi scoop ??

Unfortunately it doesn't look like user "Cudaspaz" has been on the forum for years. I went through a lot of his posts and found no report that he ever ran into issues. Quite a few people have cautioned against a glass hood with the stock springs but no one has actually come forth to say they tried it and whether or not it worked out.

Otherwise, feel free to continue the pissing contest on the correct name for fender/quarter panels.

Is it paissing or pissing? lol, Ya sorry about that.

Go ahead and use your stock springs and let us know what happened or how it turned out for you, maybe we are all wrong.

I cringe every time I hear someone call a fender a quarter panel, its usually people who just dont know any better, but Ive never heard a professional call it that. We were actually taught in auto body school that a fender is NOT a quarter panel.
Door "cards" is the newest one that really drives me crazy. I read(on this site I think) that it was some internet dork that called a door panel a card and now people have taken that one up.

I think door cards is another British term that 'swam' across the Atlantic. It kind of makes sense though. A lot of the door cards in our old Mopars are some sort of cardboard material covered with vinyl.
