Just got my Flaming River coupler and install looks to be easy,,,,except for unbolting the column.

Couldn't I just pull the steering wheel and hub, then just slide the actual steering out of the column a bit? I just replace my ignition switch and this way seem easier to me.

Whaddaya think?

i know trying to get the in at the end of the column out was a lot easier to do on a work bench then in the car when i did the coupler. column comes out pretty easy.

Yeah, I know. I pretty much had mine laying on the seat at one time, but it seemed like a real pain bolting it back in.
I was just gonna remove the wheel and hub and pull the shaft out enough, but after thinking about it I guess it WOULD be much easier cutting and drilling the shaft on a bench.

I was shocked at the large diameter of the coupler itself. They claim to also gain header clearance. Can't be much......
