I want to flush out an oil pan while still on the van. Anyone ever try this ? I have heard of that being done with kerosene, kerosene has no lubricating properties so you have to be careful. I saw my Dad do that once to quite a noisey lifter. 1 Qt. oil and 5 Qts. kerpsene for about 60 seconds. It worked too. I could remove the pan but.. a pain to do it, have to jack up the engine and remove the exhaust...I will try the easy stuff first. thanks for any experience you can lend.

never did this with a car but i have done this with a riding mower. took a locked up mower motor and freeded it. filled gas in the oil reserve on the engine and cranked it up. ran it for about a min. or 2 and drained it repeted it again and drained it again. filled it back up with fresh oil and worked better than new.

There is bound to be a reason behind your question. I'm guessing the pick up screen is clogged. Kerosene wont help that. Can make it worse though.
Drop the pan, remove the pickup tube and screen , use the kerosene to burn it clean. Good luck

don't try it with gasolene,it can cause an explosion and remove the valve covers and the oil pan super quick.you can make a primer shaft for the oil pump.remove the distributor and intermediate shaft, dump the oil then put in the kerosene or diesel fuel and then run the oil pump primer.then after the kero is run thru the oiling system hit the reverse button and it will shoot the kerosene and all the crud backwards thru the oil pickup screen.then drain it and filter the kerosene with a filter for paint then repeat the process till it comes out with no debris.I did this on an old 318 that the valve seals had deteriorated and plugged up the screen and the engine lost all oil pressure.after I did this it was back up to 60 lbs oil pressure .you dont have to change the oil filter on the engine until you are done flushing it with kerosene
