Internet isn’t helping me much on this. Getting back into the game and bought two truck and trailer loads of parts. This is a 172 tooth flywheel. What’s the application?

What's the diameter of the clutch disc area. Dodge Trucks had the 11" clutch in them.

Possibly big block flywheel with the 8 bolts???

Slant 6s were used in lots of industrial applications??

That’s a hemi only flywheel unless you have an 8 bolt crank wedge deal.

It also requires its own bell housing.

Any 130 tooth flywheel with 8 bolts will fit any 8 bolt crank.

Anything internally balanced ( I guess, you didn't post the other side) with a Hemi (8 bolt) flange.

It would fit a bib block with a stroker crank, I haven’t seen one yet that didn’t have the Hemi flange unless it was a 440 crank in a low deck.

Correct, but it'll still fit. Maybe with a scattershield or some such?

Absolutely. If you can find one. A scatter shield I mean.

I’m not sure what size clutches are used in trucks like my 89 150 (which is a stick BTW and why I bought and keep it lol) but if the have the big flywheel then you could use a small block truck bell housing.

I’m 99.999999999999999% sure that no one ever made a scatter shield for the 172 tooth flywheel for a small block.

I was told back in 1994 or so that someone at one time made a scatter shield for those big flywheels and small blocks.

If they did, I’ve never seen one and I’d suppose if they did make it and we found it, NHRA would at best frown on it.

Of course, if you run 11.50 or slower you don’t need a scatter shield for that so technically I could use it.

If not a 66l67 hemi. 60s trucks before 69 with the hydraulic bell housing used a 172 tooth flywheel . The LA318 would be 6 bolt. Don't know about the poly. Big trucks would use 172 and 186? . 413 industrial in them would by 8 bolt.

I gotta look at the date on that and see if I am running a bass fishing tournament. Filled my shop and need to empty it…have about 30 PS pumps, half dozen gear boxes, half dozen rear center chunks, A body 8 3/4 housing….and the list goes on.
